Rotary Ray

Ray Ward was nicknamed Rotary Ray because when he was speaking to clubs in District 5180, he wanted an easy email for members to remember so he chose RotaryRay5180@gmail.com. Soon members started to calling him Rotary Ray.

Ray grew up the son of a US Marine which caused him to attend 9 schools by his sophomore year in high school. His dad finally retired from the USMC to Penryn, CA where Ray graduated from Del Oro High School in Loomis. He says that military life was a great environment to grow up since you learn to make friends quickly.

After spending time at Sierra College and CSUS, Ray completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Business at National University.

Ray currently owns an insurance agency that specializes in health insurance and other employee benefits.

In 2007, Ray joined Rotary and became President of the Rotary Club of Rocklin/Loomis Basin during the 2010-2011 Rotary year. Since that time, he has been active at the district level serving on many committees (up to 7 at one time) including being the Chair of the Website Committee, Chair of the Membership Committee, Co-Chair of the 2016 District Conference, and an Assistant Governor.

Ray has been married to his wife Gena for over 25 years and they have a wonderful daughter Alyssa who is graduated from CSUS from the Business Honors Program and currently works for CalPERS. Some of Ray’s greatest joys in Rotary have been some of the opportunities Alyssa has received from being around fellow Rotarians. In March of 2024, had Ray's first grandchild Adaline Rose.

In his spare time, Ray enjoys listening to music and is a huge Parrothead (fan of Jimmy Buffett). He has seen Jimmy Buffett so many times he cannot even remember how many but, he knows that he has seehim n at 11 different locations including Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl.

• Sustainable Club Growth - Most Rotary Clubs in North America are experiencing a slow decline, this program discusses Rotary’s current membership issues and steps to create long term sustainable growth for your club.
• How We Can Help Market Your Club - This club program is designed to provide ideas and concepts for members to better understand how they can be part of a team to market your club so that your club can attract new members while retaining your current members. In addition, we will discuss how this can help your club fundraisers and be more impactful with your community.
• Start A Movement - This program discusses how your club can begin a movement in your community to create support and interest into your club. At the end we hope the members are ready to help find people that are interested in your club and it’s projects.
• Overview of Rotary - This program provides your members with an overview of Rotary International and The Rotary Foundation. This presentation is often used as part of a Fireside Chat.
